STEM Students: Unleash Your Creative Writing Skills

This 10-hour intensive course will explore effective creative writing strategies for students who tend to favor STEM subjects. We will read and evaluate writers who are also scientists. We will learn how to organize thoughts for clarity in writing, illuminate meaning with symbology, metaphor, wordplay and sensory descriptions, and how to revise and edit our own writing for optimal communication. By the end of the course, students will have written a poem in whatever style they choose and a personal essay.

  • Engage confidently in writing strategies
  • Brainstorming and organizing thoughts
  • Employ wordplay, metaphors, sensory descriptions, and similes in their writing
