The Concord Review

The Concord Review is a publication devoted to publishing thoroughly researched history essays by high school students. This is an advanced course that will take students through the process of choosing a topic, researching, and writing a 4,000 – 6,000 word paper in English to be submitted to The Concord Review.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Select a research topic based on certain criteria
  • Use advanced sources to perform research
  • Properly cite sources using footnotes and a bibliography in the Chicago style
  • Write and edit their work using historical evidence
  • Review and edit their work for publication

Course Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will have completed, or nearly completed, a paper that they could submit to the Concord Review.

Beth is an award winning teacher, mentoring students who went on to attend Ivy League schools, including Princeton, Yale, Cornell and UPenn. Starting in 2018, Beth was invited to be an AP national reader by College Board, reading and scoring thousands of papers each year. Beth attended New York University as an undergraduate and then went on to achieve a Master’s in Teaching, with a concentration in Secondary Education, from the NYU Graduate School of Education. Beth has been a teacher for over 20 years and is a passionate lifelong learner.
